Bidra med feedbackThe Gumbo Pot Laissez les bons temps rouler in Vicksburg The perfect place to eat authentic Cajun and Kreol food without going 150 miles to New Orleans. On July 1, 2018, I saw the Gumbo Pot on Google Maps as a good place to eat. A friend and I drove the 35 miles to Vicksburg to try this hidden gem. After entering the facility, you would think you were in a restaurant on Bourbon Street in the French neighborhoods. I ordered the fried pickles, seafood gumbo, and the great Pontchartrain (catfish, oysters and shrimps) and mustard green. OMG the food was sooooo good. I never had Kreol/Call food so good and not in New Orleans. Mrs. NeeNee was so friendly and attentive. She made us welcome and always saw if we need something else. My friend had the red beans, rice and potato salad. We both had the taste of food marveled. After dinner, Ms. NeeNe offered us bread pudding, but I told her I didn't eat bread pudding. She said to try it because her bread pudding was different from other places. I tried and LOVED LOVED LOVED. I give this restaurant 10 stars. The food was so good, I went back today, July 7, 2018. I had again the gumbo and then the fried catfish with crustfish étouffée over rice and one side mustard green. Once again, the food was so tasteful and reminded me of the food in one of my favorite restaurants in the French neighborhoods. I would advise everyone to go to Gumbo Pot in Vicksburg, MS for real Creole / Cajun food. The owner is of Marrero, Louisiana (West Bank) and he can definitely cook. Prices are reasonable and the sizes are more than enough. I would recommend this restaurant to all who visit Vicksburg, MS. I'm a Gumbo Pot tribal. I'll go back as much as I can. If you are in the Vicksburg area or want New Orleans taste, please visit the Gumbo Pot, you will not be disappointed.
Gumbo Pot never disappoints! The food is always amazing. Nene, Amber, and Julianna have all waited for us and they are all excellent what they do! Your customer service capabilities are phenomenal and are the reason why we always come to try new items on the menu! Our favorites are the Oystes Herbert, seafood gumbo, steak night, seafood pasta, and now the Royal Reds shrimps to this list and as always the bread pudding is a must! Great work Gumbo Pot and wish you all the best! Go on.
We stayed there on the way from Ft. Worth to Mobile. The food was excellent! We had shrimps Po’boys and the seafood gumbo, hush puppies, roasted Okra and the best bread pudding I ever had!! Will definitely be there every time we are in the area, this place is a must!!
I went through to Texas and decided to stop and grab some rubber bears.. Food was amazing. I had fried shrimps, potato salad and Hush puppies. I also ordered Rosey's special rubber.. it was great.server kept my drink full and checked me frequently. Total great experience. highly recommended
Stopped while traveling through since it was close to the exit and had plenty of parking. It was Friday evening so there was a 5-8 minute wait. After being seated our waitress promptly got our drink orders. Wife had the bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo; gravy was fantastic. I had the fried catfish which was Greg and tasty with rice beans (it was okay) and the bread was simply delicious and should’ve had a few more rolls lol.
