Bidra med feedbackWe originally came to this little fishermans town for a different restaurant, which was fully booked. Walked into this unassuming place by accident! And had the best meal we’ve had in 2 weeks in Northern Portugal. The fish and shell fish they serve are caught by local fisherman you will see the boths if you walk down the street in the sea right behind the restaurant. Fresh grilled sardines, gamba’s, sea bass, catch of the day. Served with amazing home Made fries or garlick potatoes. Seriously good! And amazing value for money. We came back a few days later to have grilled lobster !! and the amazing ‘sea food rice’. The special version also comes with lobster. If you’d like to have lobster, call ahead to reserve. Hope you go! Amazing place and lovely service!
The codfish I ate here was just amazing, the rest of the family ate a mouthful of seafood, calm atmosphere, near the sea.
Ate dinner here. Fresh fish was OK but not outstanding and the restaurant was almost deserted and dominated by a TV screen showing an action film that was watched by all the staff hanging around. Cheap but not much to recommend it.
Have had two wonderful meals here. The cooking is exceptional and the seafood is not covered in potatoes, over cooked vegetables and olive oil as we have found with many restaurants in the region. Have eaten delicious prawns with a very light tasty garlic/nutty sauce and had the seafood rice which is very tasty. They make their own home made mousses which we really enjoyed. The waiters are very friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable. Will definitely go back there when we return.
I'm eating in quebra mar at least once a month. They always have fresh fish and amazing wine. It is not a Michelin star restaurant but if you look only for taste definitely worth to try. One of the best lobster rice (arroz de lavagante), perfect octopus from the oven (polvo no forno) and my favourite bacalhau a quebra mar perfect roasted cod with plenty of aromatic and tasty olive oil, olives, potatoes and everything covered with thin layer of onion. For this food it is almost mandatory to ask for vinho branco a casa served chilled, lightly sparkling local wine.
