Black Sheep Bistro - Vergennes

Great food with friendly servers. Service was a little slow, though.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to the local Vergennes resident who recommended The Black Sheep. Walking in you do get a French Bistro vibe. And the food! It was excellent. My husband had the cold avocado curry soup with toasted coconut, delicious, and I had the very good escargots provençale. He had the steak, medium, as he ordered, and I had the haddock with a light curry sauce. We both finished with the maple creme brûlée. Warm baguette, french fries AND garlic mashed potatoes accompany every meal as well as pleasant and efficient service. All I can add is–We made reservations for tomorrow!

In town for a concert and met family members here for dinner. So impressed!! Service was outstanding, drinks were great. Our sweet potato appetizer was very tasty. All four entrees at our table received high praise. Two beef, one fish and one vegetarian dish. Maple Creme Brulee dessert out of this world. Plenty of nearby street parking. Highly recommend.

What a delightful experience. The food is cooked to perfection. The location and decor are old world.

The food was excellent, as was the service. Their bar set up had limited selections but something for everyone. Their chef is brilliant. You should go there!
