Bidra med feedbackI visited this Peruvian restaurant on Wellington Avenue in Verdun yesterday. The decor is modest, with nice table cloths and music playing. The menu prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous. The Pisco sour cocktail was true to its name, nice and sour. Many customers left with leftovers in containers. The service was good, although the waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. I did notice one of the kitchen staff not washing their hands, which was a bit concerning. Despite some minor issues with other customers being loud and disruptive, I would still recommend this restaurant and will be back to try more dishes. It may not be the best, but it's definitely worth a visit.
I decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews I had read. I focused on the comments about the food and price, not paying much attention to the service. I went with my American girlfriend, who is from Vermont where there are no Peruvian restaurants, and I was already missing the cuisine. This was her first time trying Peruvian food, so I was hoping it would be a good experience for her. I am originally from Peru and decided to order ceviche, shrimp causa, and papa a la huancaina. We also tried pisco sours. In my opinion, the dishes were a good representation of the authentic flavors. However, I noticed that the spiciness from aji amarillo, which is a key ingredient in many Peruvian dishes, was missing. Considering the difficulty in sourcing this ingredient in Montreal (and in Vermont), I still believe they did a great job with the food. The pisco sour was decent, but I enjoyed it as I missed the drink. My girlfriend loved the food, especially the papa a la huancaina, and enjoyed the pisco sour as well. We plan to return on my next visit to Montreal to try other dishes like lomo saltado and arroz con mariscos. The service was excellent, with a friendly and courteous server. The overall ambiance of the restaurant, including the music and decorations, reminded me of traditional restaurants in Peru like those in Cusco, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, or even Lima. I appreciate the authenticity of the experience compared to the more modern and expensive restaurants that are common nowadays.
The restaurant may appear to be just a typical family dining spot from the outside, but it actually offers delicious Peruvian cuisine. The dishes are bursting with great flavors, and they offer a wide variety of options, as well as tasty drinks.
Good, nice and dirty cheap. Can't go wrong with the Chupe de Camarones soup and the Ceviche The portions are well served so don't try to order too much. However, the restaurant lacks abit of space and taste in its decoration.
I can't believe there's an authentic Japanese place 30 seconds from my apartment! I should be ashamed of myself as a Japanese lmao.
