Bidra med feedbackFine dining taste and food quality in a relaxed environment! The property was built in the 1910's so there is that rustic vibe. Ask to sit on the patio where you can see a sunset. If you have kids, there is a cool grass area adjacent with cornhole where you can watch them as you sit and have a cocktail. The service was on point! James, our waiter was friendly, knew his stuff and you could tell loved his job!! Yay! The wine list is limited to chefs choice of a few local wineries, which we enjoyed! The blood Orange mule was refreshing as well. The steaks were tender and perfectly cooked! Portion sizes were generous. Dessert of chocolate lava cake and tiramisu were both amazing! This place is a hidden gem!!
I stayed at the inn connected to Austen's, and this was my main option for food. The brussel sprouts were perfectly prepared, and I made a meal out of the prosciutto flatbread (I expected a smaller portion and it surprised me). The view from the dining patio is a selling point here especially at sunset. Service was prompt, personable, and my water was always full. The only thing that felt a bit off was due to some sort of infestation tenting adjacent to the building (I think part of the inn's property). It took away from the ambiance. *but that's not their fault.
We had an fantastic experience at Austen's restaurant during our stay at the Pierpont Inn. Our host and server, Martin, was amazing. He was short handed, yet we never noticed. His attentiveness was first rate. He truly is a good star employee. As for the meal, that was top notch as well. Over the years we have dined at Austen's many times and I have never had a bad meal. Always consistent and delicious. I highly recommend Austen's and the Pierpont while visiting Ventura. Great job Martin!
AUSTEN'S RESTAURANT is the in-hotel restaurant for Pierpoint Inn in Ventura. Its covered patio faces the ocean and got a lot of sunlight when I had lunch. I was here for a seminar and we were able to order ahead of time so our food was waiting when we arrived. The COBB SALAD was great! The lone server was efficient and was able to get a large group of us in, fed, charged and out before our lunch break was over. If you happen to book your special event at The Pierpoint Inn's banquet hall/ballroom, you could do worse than ordering from Austen's.
The most lack luster restaurant I have ever been to. Today I decided to go to Austen's with my partner, it sounded like a nice idea. A nice quiet restaurant over looking the beach maybe a drink or two with our brunch. A nice morning went sour rather fast. We started off with some drinks. A **** Mary and whiskey sour for myself. I had ordered the Ruben, which is what I like to try and new places if they offer it. Well to my surprise apparently the Ruben is more of a car tire than a Ruben. The meat was over cooked and dry. The bread was softer than my grandmothers overgrown squash and the drink was mostly Sprite and lemon with little to no whiskey. The service was close to nothing. With only 7 people on the patio including myself and my partner we were only serviced maybe twice. I had to request silverware and a napkin and was never offered a second drink. My over all expectations and experience both fell flat.
