Bidra med feedbackWe came to Food and Art believing it was home style generous proportions canteen food catering to a student crowd. Left feeling unsatisfied by the quality and taste of the food, and fleeced by the price. (Don’t see what Rick Stein was in raptures about. Cannot see students affording this fare. We bought some bread at Majer on the waterfront to compensate our disappointment. Much better value wish we could have eaten there as it would have been same price.
We visited here as it was close to our hotel but would definitely visit again. The staff were friendly and kind and were happy to give recommendations for choices from the menu. Two courses with wine for 2 people came to approx. €50.
First night in, tired from travels and popped in for evening meal. Staff were helpful. Food was good and the price was reasonable.
We had a late night pizza here and enjoyed it so we returned for lunch. No pizza at lunch time but we were ushered to a table in the canteen next door. We were happy to participate in the self service arrangement but the boss quickly spread a paper tablecloth and gave us menus. We chose the risotto of the day to start and then chicken and fish to follow. The risotto was ok from the self service area and clearly an everyday version. We forgot it was Monday and the fish would be frozen. We watched as workers and locals picked up self served modest pasta on polystyrene plates while we were given cutlery and the wine list. At least the bottle was the same price as the one we’d had with pizza earlier in the week. My husband’s fish had been defrosted, fried and was still raw in the middle. It was quite funny as the waitress rolled her eyes and blamed the boss. She offered to replace it but it was too late I had eaten the bland chicken. They didn’t charge for the fish but we felt we had definitely been done over. We speak a bit of Italian, we are frequent visitors to Venice, this is a local ordinary cafe but they still took the chance to fleece us for over 60 euro including a reduction for the fish. Go for pizza it’s good!
We had menu touristico for 15€ which include coperto, but not water and coffee, so we end with about 40€ for 2 people. The food was not bad, but also not impressive. Scalopina milanese seems to be premade stuff. There are better palces around.
