Bidra med feedbackThe food is excellent here. A small menu but all home made. This is a husband and wife team where the wife does the cooking while her husband entertains the clients. Well worth the visit.
Chez Romano is not just a culinary experience, it's a multi-lingual melting pot of italian, french, spanish, icelandic, english, american and anything and everybody else that comes along. A small atmospheric, quirky restaurant where "locals" (meaning every nationality under the sun) pass through on a regular basis. Romano has the knack of being able to flitter from table to table, speaking to everyone, even the birds, in their own language with just the right amount of charming incompetence and romanticism which he has honed to a fine art - you could say a charming, well-educated Italian Basil Fawlty. His lovely hard-working wife churns out beautiful, traditional plates of perfectly cooked pasta - my favourite is the "Bavette" which is a fantastic mix of prawns, fried zucchini, garlic and chilli over al dente pasta. Treat yourself on a Friday only to Spaghetti a la Vongole (clams). Italian wines, carafes of water right out of the fountain. The tiramisu is to die for. Book however, the restaurant seats probably 20 people at most.
We sat outside and enjoyed a lovey meal on a comfortable day in early November We had the egg omellett with mushrooms and the ham & fig starters. Then we shared a wondeful freshpasta in a light sauce with mushrooms....it's the season. Rose wine suggested by the very friendly owner wasterrific and didn't break the bank. Fun afternoon. I highly recommed this restaurant/bistro
We enjoyed a dinner for 2, my wife had the penne with champignons & I had the risotto with a great bottle of Italian red recommended by the owner/ waiter. The food was superb, with Deep Purple for background music. This venue is unique & well worth a visit, not only for the quality of the food & wine, but also the character of the waiter/owner.
This small restaurant was recommended to us. We were not disappointed. On arriving there was no table outside so we opted for a table inside. The first thing you notice is a piano suspended upside down from the ceiling containing the restaurant's spirits. The food was traditional Italian and cooked simply but well. The owner / waiter is fantastic, a real character. He kept us entertained throughout the evening. Worth trying for the quirky atmosphere.
