Bidra med feedbackThe food wax very good but because of the loud music, the ambiance was tense and unappetizing. The wait staff was friendly but quite junior. Again not a Michelin experience.
Set in the gardens of The Vague Hotel, this is a lovely dining space although without a view which many if the restaurants in St Paul are famous for. They offer a fixed price daily menu, a vegetarian menu and a la carte. There were some stunning dishes, notably a celeriac ‘risotto’ served with 18 month aged comte and the beet tartare. Sadly a broccoli mousseline, resembled a cowpat on a plate abs tasted equally noxious too. This was a vegetarian main course but also one of the fish entrees was served atop this disaster. Note to the chef, ingenuity isn’t always inspirational nor tasty. Service was ok, had to remind the waitress about drinks on a few occasions and mistakes with the bill including charging for items separately which should have formed part of the vegetarian ‘menu’.
This was a real surprise. The food was delicious especially an amazing sashimi starter. all on the menu de jour for €35. The service was equally good not least the way the staff looked after two very small children. The outside terrace is shady and airy, the perfect setting for a long lazy lunch
Au jardin de la Vague was the only restaurant without a Michelinstar where we dined during our 3 night stay in St Paul de Vence, but it was maybe the best dinner we had. We chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel, the good reviews on TA and the menu on the internet sounding interesting. We discovered a restaurant in the garden, spacious tables (important to us in covid-times), friendly staff and a delicious 3 course meal. Price reasonable for the quality offered. Would certainly recommend. We had a very pleasant evening.
