Bidra med feedbackMy boyfriend and I recently had a meal at Zakkushi on Main that was so good, we couldn't stop thinking about it the next day. I had heard of Zakkushi before, but it slipped my mind until my uncle recommended it one night.
Always delicious. Service is typical izakaya (warm/welcoming) and the food is on point. We always go for the quail eggs and p-toro. Meatballs are less good for the price.
My party revisited Zakkushi on a Saturday evening. Despite booking a day in advance, we were only able to sit in the bar area, which was previously communicated to us over the phone. Zakkushi is located near Main and 25th in a small strip mall with limited parking. The restaurant is situated in the southern corner of the building. At Zakkushi, patrons can order various small dishes, such as meat skewers, to enjoy.
After returning from our trip to Japan, I was unsure if I would find an izakaya in Vancouver that I really enjoyed (not a big fan of Hapa Izakaya). I decided it was time to visit Zakkushi as I had heard good things about them. The restaurant only serves dinner and was quite busy when we arrived on a Monday night. The menu was overwhelming with so many choices, so we ended up ordering a variety of items. They also had a good selection of drinks, with my favorite being the Pure Blue ($5.80) made with Bols blue curaçao, lychee liqueur, Calpico, and soda. The Lychee Orange ($4.80) made with lychee liqueur and orange juice was also delicious.
Really delicious grilled Japanese food. The ribeye skewer was particularly good. We ordered a a few things from the specials menu: chicken karaage with soy vinegar sauce and lightly seated mackerel.
