Bidra med feedbackThe brunch here isn't bad though the selection is limited and there aren't many vegan/vegetarian options.
We were invited to have a private party here at 830pm Sunday night.
"Truffles" Cafe doesn't take reservations, and the High Tea starts at 11 am and ends at 6 pm. Inquires are being answered promptly by phone or e-mail. We bought High Tea for two @ $ 45.00 and choose a table on the patio. Tea selection was poor, they didn't have Earl Grey and ran out of Chai Rooibos, so we ordered English Breakfast instead. Two teabags in one metallic tea pot (both customers have to have same kind of tea), whose lid didn't close all the way down. Cups and saucers were made of thick china - because of all this tea was getting cold pretty soon. Everything was white (thick china again) which actually was nice but not High-Tea-ish elegant and refined. One big Salmon Sandwich usually cut in four pieces was good but ordinary. Scones and croissants were good. Dessert selection looked really nice but besides tiny tiramisu in a cup, macaroons and shortbread cookies nothing deserved our praise. We were not given dessert spoons (for three tiny desserts in the cups or jam or honey in tiny saucers) nor knifes for butter. There was no service at all, no one came by to find out whether we were enjoying our High Tea, even though we added 10 % tip at the very beginning, before actually tasting the treats, because first you get to choose a sandwich from the Deli, then select a Tea, then pay at the cashier and only then you get to sit down and have your High Tea. The cashier was really nice though and he cheerfully took our pictures. And of course patio was great, lots of sun (in the open areas) or shade (under umbrellas). Depending what side you are facing you will be able to see some beautiful trees and a fountain. In conclusion, the High-Tea was affordable but completely unimpressive which made the visit not worth of any amount of money spent.
If you want delicious soups, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, this is the place. It's reasonably priced, tasty and pleasant. You can eat outdoors and enjoy the gorgeous scenery or inside. You can't go wrong.
This café is located in VanDusen Botanical gardens overlooking a large pond. It is a great light meal option with an array of beverages and light meals from yoghurt and muesli and toasted sandwiches through to more substantial meals. They had hummingbird feeders set up to attract the birds.
