Bidra med feedbackThey ruined this place! Used to love the way it was a sampling of all the courses for delivery. The chicken noodles were so good now they r gross and greasy. Found a hair in my pork fried rice! The fried things were tasteless. The bbq pork bun was ok. The cheesecake was frozen! So so disappointed and won't ever go back again..and they focus on caterering now so it took me Over three weeks to even be able to order for delivery from them as always closed and think the actual restaurant is no longer even doing fine in...
Such a unique dining experience! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, especially since the signage was covered by a banner for all you can eat for $19. I was very impressed with the responsiveness to emails and how accommodating they were to provide a pescatarian option for the tasting menu. We were seated at the bar and the only ones in there aside from another table of three that arrived later. Also, important to note that you must pre-pay by credit card prior, in order to book a table. Second surprise was there is no liquor licence but they do have a variety of mocktail drinks which were quite tasty. One of my favourite parts of the meal were the complimentary chips at the start. The chef/owner served them herself, warm and explained they were a snack from her hometown. Loved them and could have had more. The courses that followed were all unique and amazing flavours including a sable fish to start, next a twist on wonton soup with a deep fried wonton which was very flavourful however the broth was a tad bland. The third dish was scallops which were perfectly cooked and served with mushrooms. My hubby (not a mushroom fan) even ate all the mushrooms. Next was a sweet and sour crispy shrimp. Wonderful flavour however a little on the gooey side as the sauce was quite sticky. The next course was a very tasty noodle served in the most beautiful porcelain bowl. Most impressive was the dessert tray and a complimentary cheesecake (which was my favourite) was also included. Lastly, the owner sent us home with a beautifully packaged box containing more of her fabulous chips. Although some dishes could be improved, I'm giving this 5 stars because of all the special touches, the unique approach to Asian cuisine and that it is a woman owned and run business. I would love to see these dishes available ala carte or served more casually like a take on modern street food. I would definitely like to come back and try again.
Went a few weeks ago for their summer tasting menu for my dad's birthday. Had been looking forward to trying Yunnan fusion food, but I guess our expectations were a little too high because the food was unfortunately very disappointing.The decor had solid instagrammable moments, and the shopping wall was a good idea, but our table was placed way too close to that wall, which was very awkward people wanted to have a bit of a browse.Our tasting menu started with a beautiful plate of thinly sliced cured duck, which was unfortunately not as tasty as it looked.In our second course, the salmon was overcooked, although the onion consomme poured over the rice was really delicious.The third course of asparagus was nothing special, although granted if it was a home-cooked meal and not the third course of an expensive tasting menu it would probably have been pretty good.The fourth course came in a gorgeous traditional lidded bowl, and the sablefish was incredibly smooth and silky, props for the excellent freshness! The broth itself had a fantastic kick, but the noodles had a distinctly cheap mass-produced texture which didn't live up at all to the weight of everything else.We sprung for the extra uni dumplings, but the steamed uni absolutely did not play well with the pork filling. Very disappointing, and not at all worth the top-up.The deep fried quail was... not at all crispy for having been fried. It was lightly smoked, which was very interesting, but the special plum wine sauce was about as fancy as the little packets of plum sauce from any chinese bbq place.The dessert was beautifully presented, but like the duck, it looked a lot better than it tasted. The cubes of premixed mango pudding mixed into the pu-erh jelly was confusing, and oddly enough we were given a single bamboo forest match mousse cake and a single chocolate lion with yuzu filling for two people to share, which is really not the most covid-friendly option. We didn't hugely mind though, because both the matcha mousse and the (admittedly grgeously moulded) chocolate lion were really very grainy in texture.
Such an incredibly innovative experience of the taste of Chinese street food fusion. This tiny dining establishment is in a rougher part of Granville. We walked by it twice and still had a hard time finding it. But once you do walk in, you're in store for a super dining experience.The food was immaculately prepared and each dish was delicate, visually stunning and came with a beautifully described story around how it was developed. You know they take their food seriously when you hear about how the changing menu takes so much time to craft.Yunnan street food brought to the table with such beautiful creativity and subtle nuances flavors.We came here only because another reservation fell through but we are so glad we did. It was a blessing in disguise.
We had a wonderful night at Street Aunties. Their tasting menu is delicious and their wait staff are great.
