Bidra med feedbackAffectionally known as “Peaceful”, this Northern Chinese restaurant has been offering their traditional cuisine across several locations within the lower mainland for years now. And today we were at the one on 5th ave, celebrating an earlier Chinese New Year, with a collection of “Peaceful’s” most popular. A feast of 17 dishes, including their beef rolls and dan dan noodles. All prepared by owner and head Chef, Charlie Huang. Many may be familiar with him and his restaurant chain thanks to the interview and mention of both on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Dive-Ins, and Drives” television series.
Service is average.Food is decent but on the oily side. I recommend the noodle soup as it will be less oily.Lunch menu is affordable and around/below $10.The hand dragged noodles are awesome though.
So another peaceful restaurant is located at mount pleasant was around the location so came to drop by to have a quick lunch, had the one near broadway city hall before and it was definitely decent and satisfy my carb craving for noodle : and so tried this place, and tried a few dishes here, overall i did taste a heavier taste of white pepper in my dish, and overall outside from that it was definitely okay though, definitely a decent place to grab lunch : ordered the xiao long bao and wu hua rou quan and it was okay, i definitely like the beef roll for sure.
I always have such high hopes but am always disappointed about something., usually the most important part of the meal ex. noodles always arrive overcooked. Maybe this just isn't the right food for delivery and I should try them eating in again as that was more successful. Dumplings can be bland. Spareribs can be more bone and fat than meat.
I had received very high recommendations for this location and was slightly disappointed by the dumplings. The staff was sorry to hear about our experience and assured us it was not normal. Soup was excellent though and definitely saved the day! I would go back.
