Bidra med feedbackI found this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best South Indian food places I have found in Vancouver. I ordered dosas and was impressed with the taste and presentation. The service was quick and the chutneys and sambar were delicious. I also tried the coffee, but it was not as good as I had hoped since it was not made with a filter.
I LOVE this place. It's a family-owned, hidden gem in the Fraserview neighbourhood, with great food and fantastic service. You never have to wait very long for the food and are always greeted with a smile. <br/ <br/ Favourites here are the chicken palak dosa, chicken 65 and veggie pakoras (so delicious and different than other pakoras I've had). Great value. I can't say enough good things about this place!
When we walked into the place, it looked very spacious and recently renovated, not to mention tons of seating area. So, group get togethers will not be a problem.<br/ <br/ For appetizers we ordered three dahi vadas (one for each of us). It was very fresh and the portions were appropriate. At first we thought the yogurt was too sweet, but it turned out to be a sweet red chutney sauce. If anyone orders this dish, I'm giving you all a head's up: it's the red chutney that is sweet mixing it with the yogurt and dahi vada pieces is the key to enjoying this delightful favourite.<br/ <br/ It took about 25 minutes for our dinner to arrive. That wasn't so bad.<br/ <br/ We ordered Spring Masala Dosa, Masala Dosa, and prawn biryani. All three dishes were excellently prepared. The dosa crepe was perfect and lengthy, and I have to say I really enjoyed eating it.<br/ <br/ The Spring Masala Dosa was spicy because I asked to make it hot. The potatoes were mashed up beautifully; however, they put lots of sliced onions. So for those who don't like too much onions in their dosa, this might not be to your liking.<br/ <br/ The Masala Dosa was spiced mildly and decent. The filling was steaming hot, most importantly a clear indication of freshness!<br/ <br/ Lastly, the prawn biryani was very tasty. It was not unbearably spicy. It came garnished South Indian style with a boiled egg. The best part is that there was a generous amount of prawns.<br/ <br/ Naturally, we enjoyed our dinner at Madras Dosa House. I will be coming back here again and I recommend this place for a low budget, exotic dinner.
Decent South Indian food, excellent service, and very reasonable prices. What's not to like about Madras Dosa House? I only wish the interior and the music were more South Indian in nature.
This place has authentic South Indian food. Simple and delicious. Reminds me of restaurants in India. Wished I'd known about this place earlier.
