Bidra med feedbackI’ve put the title in French as I hope the owner will read this review and remember a conversation I had with him as I paid for our lunch. “Il ne faut pas chercher une grande façade pour trouver un tres bon repas. This unassuming little eatery in Vallon certainly doesn’t have a grand façade, but my goodness, it serves up some grand food. My wife had an excellent and large portion of fish in a creamy sauce and I had the best andouillette I have eaten in many a long year; proper traditional andouillette in a fabulous mustard sauce. A pichet of wine and we were set for an afternoon’s drive along the Ardeche canyon. Unfortunately, in a way, I thought, the lunch was so good that we had lingered a little too long. I had hoped to drive the road whilst the French were still dining and so avoid crowded viewpoints. But it was now gone 2pm. Fortunately it was 38C and to paraphrase, “only mad dogs and Englishmen go sightseeing in the scorching sun”. The road was empty, the views were superb and with memories of that France that’s disappearing, of little unassuming restaurants that serve fabulous food, it was the perfect afternoon.
