Tandem - Vale of White Horse

We stopped going to The Tandem a year or so ago because we go out for a meal as an impulse and it was almost too busy to accommodate walk ins and if you tried to book there would not be a free table for a few hours. So we thought for once we would plan ahead and book. The 1st red flag was the car park was empty... on a Saturday evening. Lots of signs with Booking Only everywhere, that is inviting. I walked into the gents toilets, and all the urinals were out of order. The 2 remaining toilets stood in puddles of urine. Lovely. We got a table. This once buzzing restaurant had 3 tables of people. The rest were empty. We all decided what food we wanted from the menu, went to the bar to order. Slush Puppy Machine was out of order, so grumpy kids, the soft drink machine was out of order, grumpier kids, and grumpy adults. Ordered the food after making some changes because they did not have everything available on the menu. When the food did turn up, it was OK. However, some of the portions were a bit stingy.

Another great day at the Tandem !Great prices and great deals, especially on monday steak day staff are polite and always helpful we will be back soon !

My food was fine (gammon and chips) which is why I’ve left a one star, otherwise I wouldn’t have even put that. My partner ordered a burger and chips, upgraded to salt pepper chips but what came was OVERLY powdered seasoning which was inedible without a ton of mayo. The pina colada was a glass of milk with a shot of rum. Service- when we came in there was one young girl behind the bar, another young girl just sat at a table uninterested. No one came over to see if our food was okay or if we wanted anything else, and on our way out of the pub there was NOONE to be seen. Really poor for a Saturday night. Won’t be returning.

Just been for a lovely meal in the tandem and was greeted by this very friendly woman named Donna. What a friendly professional treacle she was. Was well worth the visit. Big up Donna

The place needs work. However ill be sure to be coming back for the outstanding customer service of the land lady. And it was a great time.
