Bidra med feedbackThere's a reason Zanzibar was historically one of the spice islands: this food is unusually tasty, with flavors you won't find elsewhere outside of East Africa. Surprisingly authentic, cooked to perfection. Try the $28 Samaki Wa Kupaka (Baked Tilapia with Coconut Sauce), cooked the traditional way with bones to preserve flavor. Also the $15 Chakula Cha, a flavorful soft cabbage with just the right amount of spice.A real treat if you're looking for a taste of East African cuisine
Bad service also hid price from me not worth the money for the portion. Go here please.. if you love disappointments
I always search within the reviews of places for the word 'vegetarian ' and since none came up for Moyo Kitchen, I figure I better write one.The item labeled vegetarian on the physical menu was Chakula Cha Mbogamboga. It was a spinach dish in a delicious sauce. Super satisfying. Interviews say they source their spices from Zanzibar, that helps explain the fantastic flavors!Bonus: The 'Spice Bridge ' food court! More concepts like this please!I 'll be returning!
I ordered the chicken bowl from them at the Magnuson popup. It cost $28, and they gave me a tiny amount of food. The person at the counter also deliberately hid the price screen from me until after I had put my credit card in, and there were no prices listed on the menu that was there.
Moyo Kitchen is such a hidden gem!!! Do not sleep on this place. It is delicious and convenient to get to (easy parking everywhere! I picked up Moyo Kitchen for my hubby's birthday bc Somali food (and basically any African cuisine lol is his fave. Moyo Kitchen is our NEW favorite!!! We both agreed that the spiced rice (the raisin rice could be eaten by itself bc it was that good. The goat meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The rice and goat meat was our favorite, and I highly recommend it. Call ahead to ask when they will be making goat : We also ordered the Sambusas and got to try their donuts and those were yummy additions to the meal, so I also recommend that too. The portions are generous you will be full! And you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu, truly. The ladies behind the business are wonderful people as well. Know that your money is going towards yummy food, and an incredible women owned, BIPOC owned, business. We will be back for sure!!! Love you Moyo Kitchen!
