The Opera House - TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Come on guys, I really love coming here regularly with my kids but as of recent the food availability and food quality has really noticeably dropped and I’m thinking of listening to my kids and not coming back. Service always great! However, food has been one of 4 things in the last 3 months, burnt, cold, dry or out of stock.. I keep coming back to hope to see an improvement but each time I actually think it’s getting worse.. Appreciate it’s December (busy cheap and cheerful, but to run out of chips, burgers if not half the actual menu (4 choices off the menu when ordering at the bar out of stock today yikes!! come on, please step up pull your socks up! Is there not plenty of other spoons around you (Crowborough, Tonbridge, Chatham that can help support and supply if a delivery hasn’t turn up. in December, which was today’s excuse at the bar. I don’t believe anyone really give a toss here sadly! Not personally one to leave feedback but this place could be really incredible and I hope the management take this feedback on bored because we want to continue coming back each time. Many thanks.

Family lunch (three adults and three teenagers). Order was efficiently taken at the bar. Everything we ordered was available. Food arrived hot. Everyone enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced.

During a day trip from Eastbourne, I stopped by for lunch and ordered the fish & chips, which I really enjoyed. The interior of the building is charming.

Waited a few minutes at an empty bar, noticed twice by the bar staff (young lady with pink hair), only for her to then serve another customer who had walked straight up. Disappointing and unpleasant to see this behaviour in 2023 in what could only be a decision based on racial appearance/not being local/etc.. Which is a shame as the restored opera theatre ceiling and stage is well worth seeing.

My son was asked to leave the restaurant under the false pretense of having a fake ID while celebrating his A-level results. His ID is completely valid. The staff were aggressive and made him feel unnecessarily uncomfortable. They need to be retrained on how to handle situations like this with more sensitivity.
