Star Hotel Bistro - TUMUT

This is my first time here and I started writing this review before even receiving my food. I don't usually write reviews, but this place is really friendly and it smells great, unlike some old pubs. I'll stop typing until my food arrives. Okay, I couldn't resist trying the food as everything looks delicious. The guy next to me had a huge burger and chips, and I wish I had ordered that instead of my seafood basket. When my food arrived, I realized I should have gone with the burger. There was too much salad that I didn't want and the seafood seemed like it came directly from a package. I would give it a 1 out of 5 rating, but I'll give it a 2 out of 5 because it was edible. I may have made a bad choice and hope my review can encourage a reevaluation of this particular dish. I will try another burger next time.

We enjoyed lunch in this friendly pub. service was prompt, reasonable prices and good selection on the menu. well presented bistro cafe in clean environment. we would visit again.

I had not visited this restaurant in many years, so I decided to stop by for lunch to try out the new chef. The dining room is currently under renovation and meals are being served in the back lounge until it is completed. While it was okay, I look forward to dining in the bright new dining room soon. The menu is extensive for a small kitchen and should satisfy most diners. I ordered the toasted lamb wrap which was presented nicely and tasted delicious. Our waitress was enthusiastic and helpful, and we enjoyed a glass of wine with our meal. The wine list was basic but the meal was excellent. I am excited to return when the new dining room is open. Great value for the experience!

We have had the pleasure of watching Melissa's culinary journey and to see what she is achieving at The Star is incredible. We too are in the industry and only eat at The Star whilst visiting Tumut. The bar and dining room have been elegantly renovated and the gorgeous open fires warm the cockles. Always a favourite with delightful food and staff.Keep up the great work

Had not been here for a number of years so decided to visit for lunch and check out the new chefThe dining room is under renovation which should be completed soon. So meals are served in the lounge at the back. It was ok but will be nice to have a bright dining room soon.The menu is quite extensive for a small kitchen but should meet the needs of most diners. I had the Lamb wrap which was toasted. Presentation was good and the meal was very tasty. The waitress was very enthusiastic and helpful.We had a glass of wine with lunch. Wine list was very basic.Meal was great. I look forward to returning when the new dining room is in operation. Good value!
