Charles Barrier - Tours

This restaurant gave me a norma desmond feeling. you knew it was a star once, but it was faded. the room was nice, the service was attentive, but the food was missing. the menu was very limited, the wine list abbreviated and some menu items...not even available. no cheese plate. in france!? we had served longustins with some sauce. They were okay, but not great. small things like this plus chip firmware just gave me the feeling that the restaurant gave up.

Excellent meal. staff, not too intrusive. different from traditional French, but still very French. had to kill 4 bluebottles before we ate!

With a group of 12 chief students, as we thought this would be a good choice to present a French restaurant. service was good and friendly. the dishes were disappointing with very little flair and imagination as well as preparation was under par, we were...served a dry and tasteless guinea fowl dish with a rock hard piece pollenta. sauce was tipped and no deep. we were all disappointing and our guests said it was the worst food they experienced in France.

A very nice location w a very good service but eating is old fashion and hard to digest. the ravioli of foie gras is too big, without taste or too much pea too sweet. the gambas were in order and the sander was perfect cooking, but a few sweets will have to be one. the choice of dessert is light.

Wonderful food, beautifully presented, well grounded in fresh produce without being overly fancy. excellent sommelier and wine recommendations, too. we started our dinner late from 9:30pm and by the time we were ready to leave, it was almost 1am past midnight. When we were told...by the staff that taxi would like be an hour wait, they kindly offered us a ride back to the hotel, on their own personal car. We had a great conversation during the 15mins ride thanks so much for going above and beyond your duty. We will definitely be back!
