Bidra med feedbackTo start, we speak very little French so it was nice to be able to book online. the restaurant was comfortable and cozy, and the music was jazz. All right. our server was very friendly and convenient (and he spoke well English, which was appreciated.) the meal was delicious, fresh and nicely presented. the glass wine map was well chosen and good. the only negative point was a little sand/sand in the mushrooms that diverted attention from the wonderful flavors. I would certainly recommend the red square and I would like to eat it again.
The first impression by crossing the door was very good - beautiful decoration, comfortable chairs, soft jazz playing in the background, real towels. first little disappointment was the menu. we knew that this was a fixed price for three courses, which we believe could change daily. (the menu that was given to us was printed as if it were a permanent item, but it does not correspond at all to what they show on their website.) if you are looking for a steak or poultry dish or a choice of several fish dish, you will not be happy. our group of four people are all adventurers, so we all were able to find something among the three sparse choices of entry, dish and dessert. We also felt a little bit in a hurry from the start. we might have three or four minutes to browse the menu before our server comes back to pick up our orders - for everything, including aperitives and wine. Thankfully, because of the little choice, we were all able to decide. drinks were served and, shortly afterwards, the bottles of wine appeared. no presentation of the wine - just open the bottles and put them on the table. (I note that several others commented on this.) the waiter commented on wine tasting and said that we would probably want to do it after we finished our drinks from the start. I accepted, but he never came back to serve the wine properly. (small disappointment no. 2.) The shower was a small spoon with a spoonful of ice cream at the squash (potiron) and a slate stick. interesting, but not exceptional. three of us had tuna tartar (see photo,) which was very good, but not spicy enough to my taste. the fourth member of our group ordered the tasty salad - an interesting mix of green vegetables, foie gras, gambas and mango slices. Two of us ordered the cod (mort) and two of us ordered the duck magret. when the server discarded our starting plates, it removed the plates and put them back on the table. in a restaurant that claims to be of this calibre, I would expect new knives and forks to be delivered before the main dish. In addition, we were not offered fish knives with seafood plates or meat knives for the magret. (small disappointment no. 3.) three dishes were served at a time, but we had to wait a few minutes for the fourth dish to arrive - strange. (we then poured our own wine) when everything was served, we dug. Both of them having cod declared it excellent. the magret was tasty, but it had not been well grasped on the fat side, was not very hot (although rosé correctly cooked) and was very difficult to cut with the standard table knives. I don't remember ever having such a hard duck magret. It was tasty and we managed to find a way there, but it wasn't the first order. (disappointment)
One of the top chef candidates cooked here and is from Toulouse. Apparently, he now lives on a bet. The value was good here. food was interesting and tasted good. the service was exceptional and the wine map was above the average. I'll come back to see the other seasonal menus they're proposing. I have to say that I don't recommend the pork burger - I'll hold it to something else. I can't figure out how to eat a burger with a knife and a fork. I'm American. The atmosphere was great - could be quite romantic.
Breakfast in the red square on a Sunday. surprised to have a table without reservation. pleasant but rather casual service (not well poured in wine, did not serve wine for tasting, or served it as a time, just opened the bottle and laid it on the table.) I had the textura menu for 34 euros. There were two choices for entry, dish and dessert. I had the following: — Flying buckets (1) lemonade of celery branch and granny-smith. (not well. I don't understand the interest. that added nothing but to worry about the coming meal;.) (2) sorbet of squash with a crumble. (was of potential, but was much too sweet for an amuse-bouche and the taste of the musk squash was barely recognizable. Moreover, he was served in a beaker with a living red fish, but two of them seemed dead. We all agreed it was pretty depressing and too gimmick. I would have preferred that the sorbet be served without the big production.) — the scallops, his winter leek confit, sabayon of champagne. (not good/medium. I won't order it anymore. Saint-Jacques shells are naturally delicious, but they were drowned in the sabayon sauce. the taste of the Saint-Jacques shells was completely exceeded. waste.) — the extra cod's back, confites of rattes of the whole touquet with half-sel butter condiments juice, onion pickles. (excellent. I would go back to the cod if I could order just a main dish and I wasn't obliged to order the three-course menu.) — the lost bread of my great-grandmother praises, cream ice cream emulsified with tahiti vanilla, cream of amaretto. (simple, but good) a lunch menu at 34 euros to Toulouse, it's pretty expensive. We were four. We all agreed that we would no longer eat here. none of us loved the shower-amuse, nor the entrance. However, we all really enjoyed the main dish and found the desserts good, but no more.
Excellent value for money on the menu at 34 euros. top presentation and delicious dishes. intimate restaurant, but worked well for a catch-up dinner with a friend. the non-French wines on the menu were a plus! Go!
