Came here for breakfast as part of the deal for staying at the RACV club. The pretty standard fare for RACV resort breakfasts, not too busy even on a public holiday, well staffed, but oddly enough not enough green stuff! It’s always good to have spinach or something like that but I never noticed any of the selections to be running short. Beautiful view. And at 9 when you could be bothered getting up the sun is already not in your eyes. Eat enough to skip lunch too.
Located on the second floor of the RACV Torquay Resort, Number One Restaurant and Wine Bar offers delicious modern Australian cuisine in a relaxed space of cavernous proportions.<br/ <br/ The expansive dining area is lined on one side with floor to ceiling windows showcasing the picturesque view over the manicured golf course out to Bass Strait. On the other side of the dining room sits the open kitchen, allowing you to observe the kitchen team at work. The relaxed ambience is underscored by generous spacing between tables.
An over night stay getaway for our anniversary prompted for minimal movement and good food. So why go outside of the RACV resort to eat when you can go to the in house restaurant, Number One. Located to the left and far end of the lobby as you enter, the restaurant overlooks the golf course and ocean although there really isn 't much to see at night seeing as its pretty dark out but does make the dining experience a little more special for some reason. We were served by a very lovely waitress who was both very knowledgeable as she was attentive.<br/ <br/ The food was on point but wasn 't 'wow ', just 'nice ' although with the price you pay per dish i.e. Western plains pork scotch attracted a $38.0 price tag, you would expect the flavour to be on point and 'bang ' in your mouth sadly wasn 't the case and had to season it. The great thing about it though was that it literally fell apart on the plate! Soft and melted in your mouth cooked to perfection if only it was seasoned to perfection also. We were excited for dessert, Caramelised brioche $16.0 and were actually imagining a some what of a Dinner by Heston type brioche that was full of delicious diabetes flavouring with a delicate flavour but well...no. Rather it was a 'nice ish ' and almost 'I feel old but a little daring ' type dish that lacked 'boom ' which you would want from a dessert. Don 't get us wrong, it was nice but for the price you pay for this place, you would expect more. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find.
We went to this restaurant today for a birthday party in the Spring Valley room. The resort is beautifully decorated with a stunning view of the green golf course and Bass Strait. The room was perfect for the party, being modern, warm, and comfortable. The canapés and small bites at the function were impressive, with options like calamari, lamb pieces, dumplings, and rice paper rolls. The staff were the highlight of the event, especially the servers led by a friendly young woman from Tallin, Estonia. Overall, it was a lovely day at the resort and we hope to stay there sometime in the future.
