The Cafe under the stewardship of James and Josh has been totally turned around - prompt, attentive service and great food.We had coffee and breakfast - 'The Avo' and 'The Shroom'. Both were full of flavour and well presented. Try Soul Fuel Torquay - you won't be disappointed.
I just wish I had read the reviews before going. Kids were hungry and pizza seemed like a good option. We were the first ones in and waited for 40 mins for 2 pizza's. The margarita's were burnt and stodgy but worse... the vegan pizza had ham on it. Now whether you are veggie or vegan or not that level of cross contamination only happens in a dirty, disorganised kitchen and I have left feeling sick. The manager gave me the money back for the one pizza but it takes me back to the 80's and the lack of understanding about vegetarianism. Oh and just to cap of the experience the toilets were disgusting. Safe to say I won't be back.
Went with the family, place was not busy, which we thought was good... order good and drinks. Drinks came and then the wait began, 2 of the 5 meals arrived... then close to half an hour later the pizza arrived, the possibly 40 minutes later a simple burger arrived. Certainly won't be back, and I'm sure that day we weren't the only ones!
Went on a cold weekday morning to get breakfast, the breakfast menu was very limited, and I ordered what I thought was going to be a warm bowl of porridge with granola and fruit (as their menu no longer has french toast on it, and don't bother asking! They act very annoyed.), but instead I got a frozen bowl of mushed berry puree with a tiny bit of granola spinkled on top. Not what I was expecting and couldn't eat it. Froze my teeth! They left the doors wide open the whole time and it remained very cold inside. The coffee was going to be my one saviour for warmth and goodness, but alas it was terribly bitter and couldn't drink that either. My kids toast was hard and cold, they couldn't even do toast right. Wish we hadn't of gone in this place. Certainly won't ever go back.
We were driving through Torquay, in need of coffee, saw this cafe with a convenient park right in front. Asked for a double shot, and guy explained their coffee stronger than most cafes. Went with their single shot and, yes, it was the equivalent of most cafes' double shot. And the best coffee we have had (so far) in Australia. The cafe uses the Moose brand of coffee, something new to us but now on our shopping list. Guy friendly and helpful, coffee great, so can recommend.
