Sauvignon - Toronto

In late April, I reached out to the restaurant online to book a reservation for my wife's birthday on Sunday, May 15, 2022. A restaurant representative called me and confirmed a reservation for 18:30 on May 15th. However, when we arrived for dinner, we were met by a very aggressive man at the door who informed us that the restaurant was closed for a private party. Despite my inquiry about our reservation, he became increasingly aggressive and rude, leaving us feeling disappointed and frustrated that our reservation was not honored.

This restaurant IS A FIND! The patio is not only on Queen. It's also off to the side and that's where we sat. private.. They did such a good job on this patio. They even have a fire pit for ambiance and flowers. So...cozy. The service is informal as it should be on a patio. They are all extremely helpful and accommodating. Oh the food........ Mussels first. I usually order tomato based sauces. This one is a curry coconut sauce(My girlfriend does not eat Indian food because of the curry). We were both using our spoons to drink the sauce. So good! We shared halibut, scallops and fries along with the sides that come with the mains. We could not get enough. Over ate!!! It's been a long time since I felt this strong about a restaurant. It's not just good.....It's excellent!!!!! Friends found this place by accident and suggested it. I shouldn't write a review like this so close to supper. Now I'm hungry. Check them out especially during Covid. They have their act together on safety and a perfect meal! Congrats Sauvignon we will be coming back and recommending you to our friends..

This restaurant was a perfect choice that my son reserved for dinner for four. My son, his girlfriend, my husband and I all enjoyed our meals which were delicious and plentiful. We will return and highly recommend. Thank you for the great dining experience.

We do very few take out meals but for special occasions we like to go all in and Sauvignon delivered! For starters a very crisp and fresh Caesar salad,very garlicky with tasty croutons, plus a helping of calamari perfectly prepared. For our mains we both...picked the cassoulet,a bean stew, slow cooked with lots of great ingredients (duck, lamb, sausage) quite fantastic! Our Creme Brûlée was one of the best we have ever had. This restaurant has been on Queen Street for a long time and I hope they are here long into the future. Looking forward to enjoying the beautiful decor inside when we get out this.

We arrived earlier than our reservation but were promptly seated at a table on the front of the terrace. Our waitress, Tracy, quickly greeted us and provided us with the menu, explaining some great dinner options, although they seemed a bit pricey. What stood out to me was the lack of formality in the service staff's attire, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff worked efficiently together, ensuring our wine glasses were constantly refilled and our plates promptly cleared, making us feel well taken care of. For appetizers, we enjoyed the Fried Calamari with Chilli Lime Aioli and the Spicy Grilled Shrimp, Black Bean, and Avocado Salad in a Citrus Papaya Dressing. Both dishes were fresh and flavorful, with the Calamari being light and crispy and the shrimp juicy and the salad refreshing. For our main courses, I had the Duck Confit with mushroom Risotto and spinach, while my partner had the Pan-Seared Arctic Char with Linguine in a Pesto cream sauce. The Duck Confit was tender and flavorful, slipping off the bone easily, while the Risotto was perfectly cooked. The Arctic Char was cooked to a medium-rare perfection, with a crispy skin. We intended to order Sautéed Garlic Greens as a side, but it seemed to have been forgotten, which was probably for the best as the portions were already generous. We made sure to save room for dessert, sharing the decadent dark chocolate marquise with raspberry Coulis Chantilly Cream and the Madagascar Vanilla Liqueur Creme Brûlée with Candied Orange Peel and Ginger Snap Cookies. The flavors were rich and indulgent, a perfect end to our delicious meal.
