Local Public Eatery - Toronto

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the beer selection was great, and the staff, especially our server Victoria, were fantastic. We must have done something right because we ended up getting free nachos, which were delicious. We will definitely be back when we are in town again.

I am extremely satisfied with my experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, the decor was great, and the staff was knowledgeable. They even served a perfectly poured pint in a chilled stein. The nachos and chicken wings were the best I've ever had. Both servers, Magnus and Katie, were friendly, attentive, and helped us with our selections.

The restaurant offers seating options both indoors, outdoors on the patio, and upstairs on a roof terrace. There is parking nearby. The service was attentive and pleasant. However, the restaurant could use a cleaning as it appears a bit grimy in spots. The menu consists of typical pub food, but each dish seemed to be lacking in some way. The pricing varied, with some items being good value and others not so much. This was our second visit to the Local and it seems like they could improve their standards a bit.

Went in for a birthday meal, spent $97 (and the cheque was dropped of just as I took my last bite , and then the waitress comes up and asks us how long we are going to be. I was confused and pointed to the drinks in front of us... she said “well, there’s a waitlist downstairs” and just looked at me like we needed to move. I then hear the hostess saying loudly that there’s a party of 5 waiting (we were at a bigger table 1 Why sit us at a table that we can’t enjoy properly? 2 The second we tipped our waitresses (22%!! she switched her demeanour and just wanted us out of there so she could get more customers in. It was a horrible feeling when we had just ordered some drinks! 3 What a terrible end to my birthday.. no thank you, LOCAL LEASIDE. We had to down our drinks (and didn’t finish because it was so uncomfortable not worth $97!!

Low grade food and SJW servers. This is the worst bar I’ve been to in Toronto. The policy seems to be a “social justice warrior” they’re overly sensitive about referring to “he” or “she” and prefer if you use “them” or that person. Such a joke of a bar, a case where the lunatics run the asylum and the food will reflect that in full. Even though ALL there food comes pre packed and is basically just a set of 1-2-3 instructions to cook, the food is very disappointing and bland (obviously). Only the very small wings have any redeeming value. However over pretensions servers who are as equally rude as they are incompetent leave this place as a spot to be avoided. We had a waitress on the upper patio who clearly didn’t want to be there, and actually gave an impressive burp for a small girl, however shocking and disgusting. My friend said “Wow”. She looked at him and replied “What? Only men are allowed to burp?” Just Wow! An experience I wish to never repeat and clearly a case where the management is lacking.
