Koi - Torino

Molto bello ristorante. Atmosfera rilassante ed elegante.

The fish is of high quality at KOI, the wine list much better than is usual at most sushi places in Turin. The chefs work very hard. Service is quite attentive and swift. I know authentic Japanese food, having grown up near Japantown in San Francisco. Yes Koi is a FUSION concept, but I think it fails to capture the essence of Japanese simplicity and flavors. Odd, because any Italian chef, or even casual diner could expound at length about purity of ingredients, and how honest preparation must delve deeply into the soul of materia prima, rather than obscure it. Success is attained through lack of artifice, and respect for nature. Less is more. A good fusion displays deep knowledge of the cultures involved, otherwise three letters must be placed before the word: c-o-n

Excellent food and service, the dishes were delicious. the only minus was that the room was a bit noisy on the night we dined there and several locals had brought their pet dogs (one even had them in a stroller), which is a bit unusual to see while having dinner.

We had ni expectations but loved it! Food and service was excellent! Best asian fusion we have had. Well worth a visit and we will definetely be back.

Wonderful food and service! I am eager to return someday!
