We had a wonderful family evening at The Poet to celebrate my 50th birthday. The entire staff greeted us warmly and made it a truly memorable and festive night. The recommended cocktail, a raspberry gin sour featuring local brands, was delicious. The menu had an interesting twist on desserts and used locally sourced produce, resulting in fresh and flavorful dishes. It was difficult to choose a favorite element, whether it was the fresh local asparagus with crunchy toppings, the intriguing flavors in the amuse bouche, the succulent pork belly, or the perfectly gooey chocolate fondant with salted caramel popcorn. The serving team was impressive, even managing to keep track of our orders as we switched seats - thanks to some insider information from Chef Lee! Thank you to everyone at The Poet, especially Lee, for creating such a gastronomically unforgettable birthday experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates quality, fresh, local food and excellent service.
We had a fantastic dining experience at The Poet to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. Chef Lee and his team prepared an incredibly delicious meal. Some of my personal highlights were the Carrot terrine Amuse Bouche, the Asparagus starter (which was so good that I ended up sharing with my husband), and the Tartiflette side that accompanied the pork belly. Every dish was delightful and it was evident that a lot of effort and skill went into crafting and cooking them. Our entire group had a wonderful evening. A big thank you to the entire team at The Poet!
Poet at Matfield a Resturant which never disappoints Food rating 4.5/5 Presentation 4.2/5 Customer service 4.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Price 4.6/5 Overall 4.5/5 4 People for lunch two dishes from the main course and 6 dishes from the lunch set menu The food at the poet has never disappointed me, hidden gem in Kent, where this local pub produces Michelin standard food at an fantastic price point. The customer service is always impeccable, with well inform staff who are polite and kind. There is a a decent amount of selection of the main menu, however, show catcher is the lunchtime menu, the price point for the lunchtime menu is a really affordable and good selection of delicious food, the poet, utilises, local ingredients, turning them into something delicious, I have been to the poet several times before, and it has never disappointed me.
We had an amazing dining experience at The Poet. The new Chef Lee and manager Tom will definitely continue to elevate the already outstanding reputation of this restaurant. The menu was delicious and featured some unique combinations that set it apart from other restaurants in my opinion. The dishes were executed perfectly and some of the best food we have ever tasted. The service was excellent with a friendly and knowledgeable front of house team. There was a good amount of time between courses and we never felt rushed to finish our meal. Our 3-hour date night here was enjoyable and relaxing, and we are excited to return in the future.
