Bidra med feedbackI booked a Sunday lunch carvery at this restaurant, expecting a variety of meat options. However, there was only one choice available - chicken. The food seemed to have been prepared in advance as it was all served quickly without any finishing touches. The vegetables were overcooked and bland. I felt that the meal could have used a more professional touch from both the kitchen and the waitstaff. The building itself was beautiful, but the dining area was quite cold and unpleasant, forcing me to eat with my coat on. It was disappointing as I had been looking forward to dining here as a regular visitor.
We went for a stroll around the friary on a Saturday morning and then decided to stop here for a meal. The Pilgrims Hall has a straightforward menu, generous portions for the price, and friendly staff.
We stayed at the Friars after our sons wedding. Therefore we had breakfast at Pilgrims Hall . Although it’s not open to the general public for breakfast it is for lunch and dinner. The venue is beautiful (due to its age . Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice. The cooked breakfast was plentiful both well cooked and presented .Offering good quality ingredients. There was also porridge. The staff were both friendly and efficient regularly replenishing the beverage table . We would not hesitate to try lunch or dinner here after our breakfast experience.
Booked here for the Sunday roast as a three generation Fathers Day meal. We’ve eaten here before as a couple so this was a bit of a risk. A risk worth taking!! It’s a very atmospheric place to eat and the food and service were excellent. We will be back!
I made a reservation to meet friends at this restaurant for their Sunday Carvery a few weeks ago. The venue was nice and the tables were set up for our group. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our experience. We had to get our own drinks at the counter, the staff seemed disorganized. We were asked if we wanted to go up for the carvery before our starters were even finished. We ended up waiting a long time to go up for our meal, even after tables that arrived after us were served. I ordered the beef and was disappointed to find it tough, as did others at the table. When I asked for an extra parsnip at the serving station, I was told only one per person was allowed. The trays of vegetables on the table were lukewarm at best. Overall, our experience at Friars was not great and we will not be returning for lunch.
