Kilcoran Lodge - Tipperary

We came here for a family gathering and had a wonderful lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive. When we visited on our own, the food was delicious - the mushroom dish as an appetizer ended up becoming my entire meal! The portions were generous.

The service staff is attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant and calming. However, the food disappoints with small portion sizes for the price and average taste. It's a shame because the restaurant has the potential to be truly exceptional given its setting.

The bacon was absolutely terrible, the salmon was bad, and the beef was extremely tough. Despite paying a lot, I didn't complain at the time, but now I regret it. I was very disappointed with the food for the price. Dinner at home would have been ten times better.

I just had the most wonderful lunch here. The new bar menu is superb and executed perfectly. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had to make a booking before arrival and were seated straight away. It was so nice to see a buzz around after the last couple of months. All of our food was perfect, served piping hot- a must! I had the fish and chips, the batter was so light and delicious. My husband had the Steak which was cooked perfectly to order. We shared a delicious home made brownie for dessert. It was served warm with Ice-Cream. We enjoyed a couple of drinks afterwards but didn’t want to over-stay as per the current government guidelines. I will definitely be returning to this hotel in the near future.

Booked in for Sunday lunch with my wife and two daughters which we had booked in the bar. When we arrived we were brought into the restaurant into a dark corner. We ordered drinks and I asked to be moved into the bar as per our booking. 15 minutes later our drinks were brought into the restaurant, I had to go after the waiter to get our drinks to our table in the bar. Our food arrived and while my wife and children's food was fine, all my veg and potatoes were cold. I called the waiter and asked that it be replaced. The waiter apologised and went to replace my cold meal with the roast beef dinner i had ordered. The replacement meal arrived but yet again the food was cold. I called the manager and he offered to comp the entire meal. I refused as my family had had satisfactory food and I was willing to pay for their fare. On receiving the bill, I saw that not only was my beef dinner still included on the bill, but my daughters meal had been double charged!!! Again I went to the manager. While all he could do was offer his apologies, his tone to me appeared dismissive.On this occasion I accepted his offer of comping the entire bill, an offer that to me was begrudgingly offered. Myself and my wife had our wedding in this hotel as well as my daughters christening party and live locally. After this episode, I'm afraid to say, that I will never be returning to this hotel .
