Pizzeria Bernina AG - Thusis

We were 5 friends and all hungry as hell. We saw pizzeria bernina on the side of the road and thought we should go eat there. Best decision ever. We ordered 3 different pizzas and 2 pastas with some meat. It was delicious. Team is perfect, we laughed with them and had lots of fun. We didn't think that we could feel so well in a restaurant. We called in here for a meal the other evening. Service was quick and the food arrived in good time, however, portion sizes were a little bit dubious. We ordered a smaller portion of risotto, what arrived looked like a small starter. When we finally got the bill we found that the small portion was only CHF 2 less than a full portion.

There aren't many restaurants in Thusis and this place was recommended to us by the locals. We were sitting outside and the place was very popular. The service was very fast and the food was delivered quickly. The portions are big. I had tuna which was delicious and served as two big steaks with vegetables. My boyfriend had a spicy pizza with which he was pleased as well. The only thing this place could improve is to be a little bit more friendly and smile to the customers.

Very disappointing service and even more so that although I emailed the restaurant after I received no response which is what prompted me to let others know.We rang and booked a table in the morning for the evening and arrived 5 minutes early. Although given our seat and menus we were not able to place our order until some 20-25 mins later.When placing the order we were informed the kitchen was very busy and there would be a 20 mins wait for food which we accepted. For one of the dishes we asked to swap chips for rösti. There was no mention of an additional charge in the menu and the waiter did not mention it when we made the request.Some 50 mins later we received our meal. Nothing offered complimentary in the meantime just an update that our food would be coming soon and so we waited and waited and waited.When the food finally arrived it looked delicious however as I was eating my fillet steak with pepper sauce I crunched hard on my teeth and then spit out 2 pieces of hard stone. When asking the waiter what it was he looked and said oh its some of the cooking griddle as if this is acceptable for people to eat and swallow this not to mention the potential damage to teeth.When we received our bill we noticed an additional charge or 4.50CHF. When we asked what this was for we were then informed its the additional charge for rösti which had not been mentioned before when ordering.The above series of circumstances are really not acceptable and then to receive a bill with additional charges words escape me. Being busy with group bookings is not an acceptable reason to wait so long to order, receive the food, eat metal in the food and then be charge extra for switching to rösti. If we had been told in the morning when we rang that the restaurant would be very busy and unable to take more bookings, we could have gone and enjoyed a meal somewhere else that had the time to serve us.

Good italian food, the octopus lemon salad was excellent and their pizzas also. very nice views of the valley and friendly staff with reasonable prices.
