Just finished cycling the rail-trail (brilliant! and we thought we deserved a little drink. Stumbled on this place and couldn’t be happier. Lovely traditional UK pub look feel, friendly staff and the spirit of the town represented (newspaper articles re the towns history on the wall . Would recommend and in all likelihood we’ll be back.

Pleasant environment but better to sit towards back door if you prefer quiet, and there are a group in the bar. Happy with the menu, and great to have a choice of a cauliflower mash rather than potato mash or chips. Enjoyed the vegetables, but chose lamb shank, and it was over cooked. Good generous dessert. Would go again

Went for queens birthday lunch on Sunday for two of us. Great service. The southern chicken as starter was beautiful and huge. The chicken salad was awesome and big as well. Would definitely visit again.
