Imagine taking years of experience on the heights of gourmet cooking, traveling the world and creating a pathological desire to find the best freshest ingredients locally. now they put this into a quintessential bistro in the somerset market town taunton. augustus is a must for anyone looking for a taste of the class. chef richard guest is a chef, he speaks straight and has an amazing talent for the production of dresses that pluck the culinary hearts. like the time when I tried his moules mariniere et frites, I was transported to my first taste of muscheln while I was on the North Sea French coast. his love for detail with the accompanying series of ingredients also come strong through whether as a starter (the brot and pate to die), a fabulous escape (to mention many) or as a refinement (if they are happy his rubarb trio is amazing, he is from yorkshire finally) what the experience completes, is the wine selection and atmosphere. with such expertise and love for detail, rarely seen in bistros this size, it is no wonder that this is a must for any serious diner. tunton' bester secret is no longer a secret. as I live in florida now, I can guarantee that augustus has left a long lasting impression and will be on our plans first when we return for a visit!
