Metropole Taormina Maison D'hotes

We booked a Suite with a balcony, but the room we got couldn 't have been more different from the pictures. The pictures showed a split level room with a living area on the lower floor including a sofa and a desk then a balcony. The actual room (room 7) instead had a corridor with a bath in the corner (very strange) that opened to a balcony. Then a mezzanine above the corridor with a bed, which had no windows or any kind of natural light. There was no sofa, no desk and no separate living space, hence definitely not a 'suite '. When we asked the hotel about this they said that some rooms were indeed better than others and that the rooms in the pictures were reserved for guests who booked directly with the hotel and not available via booking websites etc. However these are the very photos they are using to advertise these rooms on those sites. Other annoying things made this a very sub par stay, such as no ability to turn off the lights on the balcony meaning the rooms were bright all night long, no coffee making facilities in the room, and a general wear and tear for all the furniture in the room.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and this was absolutely the low point of the trip. The building itself is beautiful, but that is as far as the pleasantries extend. We stayed there for two nights, and the entire time we felt unwelcomed. When ordering drinks at the terrace, we were told the facilities were for guests only, and on multiple occasions we would wait 15+ minutes for a glass of wine only to realize it wasn't coming. The entrance to the hotel by taxi is at the backend in a garage that can fit two cars. There is no member of staff down there to receive you. To get in, you need to buzz and they will supposedly send someone down to get you as the elevator to go to the lobby is locked. I say supposedly because, once again, we waited approximately 15 minutes and no one had come down. We ended up relying on other guests to use the back entrance to leave in order to get in. The rooms are not as advertised. We were given a room that smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel offered us another room clearly a downgrade, as the room we had paid for was meant to include a balcony and a bathtub, while the room they offered had neither. Being standard to offer the next best room, we figured it was the best they could do and took it. Upon checkout, when we explained that we had paid for a premium room and would like the difference in room price balanced, they said because we took the lesser room without complaint that there was nothing they would be willing to do. An absolute sham. The town of Taormina is beautiful, and there are many fantastic hotels to select from. If your expectations for a 5 star hotel extend past beautiful brickwork, I implore you to look elsewhere.

Had a great time in Taormina , Hotel Metropole was a great location. We arrived and greeted with the hotel porter he made us feel very welcome got up to front desk and was greeted by a very rude clerk she was so angry, she made us wait for 20mins before she greeted us it wasn’t busy finally got to our room, at this point we were disappointed and felt that our choice was wrong. We ignored that negativity at the front desk went out that night had a great time . Our breakfast next morning and every morning was great always greeted with a happy and positive smiles . The views the hotel the location the swimming pool are amazing. The only thing that was disappointing was the front desk should be given lessons on customer service. But all other staff we give them a 10 out of 10 thank you. Would stay here again next time we are in Taormina.

La posizione eccezionale, la struttura storica e molto ben tenuta, l'atmosfera familiare, il personale professionale e amichevole. camera non esattamente del mio goto ma altrettanto confortevole, molto pulito, adeguato. servizio da veri cinque stelle. piscina indimenticabile, bar piscina di ottima qualità ma con prezzi al di là ragionevole, probabilmente a causa del numero ridotto di camere e un servizio costoso. ottima colazione.
