Catchy's - Tamworth

I went to pick up some takeout. There is now a Specsavers at this location...disappointing! I'm assuming a fish and chip shop on the main street with limited parking wasn't going to last.

The food at this restaurant is delicious with generous portions that are very satisfying. Surprisingly, for a fish shop, they also make great burgers.

The large basket of fish and chips for $11 was impressive, with fresh ingredients and friendly owners. The food was made to order, so it was hot and crispy, although there may be a wait due to difficulty handling large orders. Despite being a small business, the value of the food was great and better than other options in the shopping world and centerpoint.

We've eaten fish and chips from here semi-regularly since the place opened some months back. I cannot complain at all about the speed or friendliness of the service - that's all good. Unfortunately, the food has been inconsistent and yesterday's effort really questionable. When the place first opened, the food was really good - fresh, served hot, not greasy. Then we had several occasions where the food tasted like the cooking oil was overdue for a change, resulting in the food not tasting all that good and being a bit greasy. Yesterday, we ordered and ate at the tables outside the front of the premises early evening - about 6pm - there was no question that the food was served hot and eaten immediately. The food was flavourless, definitely over-greasy and tasted like the oil was overdue to be changed. It started "repeating" quite badly on both of us even before we got home and we both felt pretty awful throughout the night. This was the only food/drink we both had during the 24 hour period.
