Bidra med feedbackDISCLAIMER: For this review I will solely focus on bagels, not pizza. The overly spacious restaurant fits like a glove for the undergrad crowd. When walking in you can witness the bagel making station through a large glass window. The dude who took care of me was genuine and provided great customer service. I ordered the Brooklyn Sandwich. My goodness, not only was it delicious, but the size of it blew me away. This was a behemoth-sized breakfast sandwich. Fresh eggs, stuffed with bacon, ham, sausage and cheese oozing throughout. And the bagel, merely a plain bagel, was delectable. Do they really import their water from New York? It sure tastes like it! The coffee goes down smooth, too. Try their iced coffee with iced coffee cubes. Overall, it's a bit pricier than most places around town. All in all, about $10 for breakfast. But I promise, for the extra few dollars you get your bang for your buck. From now on, I'll definitely try to venture out to the college side of town for my early morning gas in the tank. Brooklyn, represent!
Years ago, we had a franchise in Houston and I'd drive 45 minutes every few weeks to load up on these gems. This location is every bit as good as I remembered. These are dense bagels, not those light fluffy imposters. I appreciated the whole grain options-plain, onion, everything. I'd just suggest you get here early, as once the bagels are gone the special flavors aren't baked until the next day. I didn't try any of their sandwiches, but they sure looked good. Pastrami, salmon spreads, roast beef ...deli stuff. If I were in town another day, I'd be chowin on a Reuben.
There are some serious changes happening at Brooklyn Water Bagel. First, they are getting back to their roots and will be focusing on bagels. That means no more pizza. That also means that the restaurant is closing at 4:00 pm (because how many people really want a bagel for dinner?? . And there is construction underway as they subdivide the restaurant to sub-lease the east side to a new tenant. So, they will continue to make and sell their outstanding bagels (and they ARE outstanding . But be sure to get there before 4:00 for your bagel fix. Now if only they would make and sell bialys...and perhaps 1/2 size bagels (for the carb conscious ....
I'll start with the ugly and end with the good. The Ugly: Cesar salad. It's kind of my bad for ordering it in the first place but I'm a hard-hitting eater and I knew a bagel, no matter what it's filled with, wouldn't fill me. The salad was lackluster with WAY too many rock hard croutons (and I'm a bonified carb kween: they hurt my jaw and overpowered the salad), the lettuce was really limp, the salad came dressed even though I asked for it to go AND there was a comically excessive amount of cheese on top. No good, but also not why people come here. They come here for... The Good: The bagels! They're dang tasty, well-portioned and the Williamsburg is the most respectable shout out to my Jewish ancestry I can think of: perfect amount of cream cheese, high quality lox, thinly sliced red onion yas. In conclusion get your salad next door at Vale and let Brooklyn Water do their thang.
Great bagel place located in the heart of college town. It's a franchise so the food is always consistent. I'm a big bagel fan so I am always happy when someone suggests coming here. I've tried a few items off the menu and enjoyed them all. The egg sandwich, tuna melt, bagel with cream cheese.
