Vapiano - Sydney

I was meeting a friend for lunch and they were in the mood for pasta. After some searching, everything else was either closed or ridiculously expensive, so we came here. I ordered the pesto basilico, which came standard with tagliatelle. I waited half an hour for this at a not-very-busy time. Staff were helpful and accommodating but unfortunately the food was pretty disappointing: not particularly hot and not very al dente as promised, in fact a bit sticky. I’m not a fan of international chains, so I wouldn’t normally come here anyway, but now I know I’m not missing anything.

This is not good Italian food at all and expensive for the cost. What you get is uninspiring food that as bad as when I got this IN Europe.

This is a good place to go to if you're dining out with other people who are not vegan/vegetarian. There are vegan choices on the menu, and these are clearly labelled. However, it is your typical vegan italian food, i.e pasta with tomatoe sauce, or pasta with roast veggies. That's it for the pastas. Having said that though, it is pretty nice, if a little boring. The queue can take ages though if you get there when it is busy. You have to queue to order and then watch them make it, and THEN you go and sit down. There is no table service. It kind of feels like a buffet, except you have to wait for them to cook your food. Cooking time is not too long, it is the queue time and the fact you have to wait for everyone's meals to be made individually.

They serve decent pasta, but it's overpriced for a fairly small meal to start with. Ask for mushroom or veggies as extras otherwise you'll just get pasta and sauce.
