Bidra med feedbackI visited this restaurant with my friends and was disappointed by the limited variety on the menu for an Asian restaurant. The older wait staff, who seemed to be the owners, were very attentive. However, the other wait staff were grumpy and gave us a death stare with no smiles when we asked for help. The restaurant was surprisingly empty given its location. The food was overpriced and the portions were small. I will not be returning and would rather eat at a more authentic Malay restaurant.
I used to be a fan of Chinta Ria at their previous location and was excited to grab a quick bite while Christmas shopping. However, I was disappointed by the slow service despite there being only 4 tables occupied. It took 15 minutes just to get water and place my order. When my Roti Chanai arrived, the roti was delicious but the sauce was bland and the portion was very small. The mixed greens I ordered were also flavorless, with no hint of garlic or any other seasoning. Sadly, this experience has made me rethink considering this restaurant as one of my favorites.
Should’ve known to walk away when I saw there was only 2 tables seated. Now I get that it’s in Westfield but I was sat at a table staring straight out into the mall. When i asked to move they would not accommodate the request....Curry had very little flavor and the apps were greasy. Best of all after they brought the entree the server told me the kitchen was closing even though there was 40 minutes till their posted times.
Enjoyed a lunch with relatives here, a pleasant surprise in the shopping mall. Good food, pleasant atmosphere, tasty Malaysian specialties. Recommended as a very nice change of pace.
When the memory of place and food is better than the return experience. Sachmo squid has been, quite honestly, the best dish I had ever come across in my entire life. It had been a revolution, the new benchmark of excellence. The cockle bay venue...was outstanding, and nothing it seems will ever live up to it. Alas, Not even it’s new little brother in Darling Square. With the exception of the most expensive roti in the world- which are exceptional $5 a pop, The post covid dining experience was just a let down. This review pains me. The satchmo squid, oily- and no tamarind sauce.Just an oily mess. A tiny sprig of coriander and 4 slices of chilli. The beef ria.... reminiscent of a basic Chinese beef stir fry, again oily and the beef, sooo Bi- carb treated- you could taste it. The curry sauce for the roti.... curry powder in coconut milk. Like what even is that for $3. Great noodles and roti. but **** hell- the menu price is totally different to what you are charged. All in all, I won’t bother going back. I’ll just remember my cockle bay memories fondly and pretend this was just a bad dream. I don’t want to think the beer they served us was hot because they did not want us there... but the service was definitely colder than our drinks which alas does mean we will never return. So depressing my that something good is gone forever.
