Azuma - Sydney

In one word 'overpriced'. You can taste similar Japanese cuisines in much cheaper price. Service is not up on notch either, can't give this place a higher rating, sorry!

A really nice Japanese restaurant - don't miss to try there teriyaki wagyu beef. It's somewhat in a peculiar location though, if you come for dinner don't be shy due to the fact that you have to go through a small closed up shopping mall. But once you're there, you will enjoy it.

The sushi is very standard here. Just Salmon, prawn, tuna and 1 piece of kingfish. For 2 courses and 1 drink for 2 it cost us $160. That's just a complete rip off and the quality of the fish was middle tier.Service was good otherwise but no way is this place worth what it's charging.

Had a dinner here with friends. I chose this restaurant based on people's reviews. The Staff were very attentive but deco was very average and furniture is outdated and tired looking. My friends took us to sokyo Japanese restaurant last trip and the food was fantastic. So I wanted impress my friends this time but azuma's food was just average and there was no wow factor. I don't understand why this restaurant was in the top 10 Japanese restaurants in Sydney.

Azuma - a haven of peace in the bustle of the city. Not only has it been host to the Japanese Imperial Family, but famed chef, Tetsuya, lists it as a favourite. Although entered through a new food Court in Chifley Square, Azuma is in a very different category. The greetings are sincere and enthusiastic. The seating and service, prompt, the wine and Sake list is interesting and there is great beer on tap. And, the food is fantastic!The sushi and sashimi bar is top notch with skilful presentation and generous selection of squeaky fresh seafood. Those sashimi/sushi masters are just that, masters. I just adored the scallop tempura sushi and the grilled eel is so delicious. The menu is filled with suggestions for fantastic Japanese dishes and it is difficult to choose. The service is first rate and not at all intrusive. Many Japanese ex-patriates book private rooms, as do in-the-know Sydney-siders. I have tried other well known Japanese restaurants in Sydney including one at the Star Casino which claims to be working towards three stars. However, none of them shook my faith in Azuma and its consistently first rate, lovely food.
