Bidra med feedbackGreat for a family dinner. must be before book and pay £5 pay per head, great service and eating was on point all hot and punctual, 9 of us! good service at the table with humor. good, the whole round, outside the opposite also children ran wild.
My husband and I had afternoon tea at The Welcome Inn, a birthday treat! Lovely food, fresh and plenty of it! Tea, coffee plentiful, staff cant do enough! Very pleasant afternoon, highly recommended!!
We visited as a party of 10 people for lunch but couldn't book the lunch time slot we wanted as they had another similar sized party at that time. We had to pay a non-refundable deposit of £5 per person and pre-order our food. The place wasn't that busy, the staff were nice but some of the meals weren't that great. My sister and I ordered salmon, but both were overcooked and dry, as was the chicken dish my auntie ordered. Other meals were okay. The venue is lovely, nice decor.
Service was pretty poor, it was as if they did not want to engage in conversation and that made us feel pretty awkward. The service was rushed and brief. It seemed the staff tended to prefer the older individuals with very noticeable differences in service. For example, asking if they wanted top up on drinks etc. Whilst the food was lovely, I feel I was overcharged. £2 extra to swap my fries for chips?? I can understand charging the difference between the two which was either £0 or 0.50p, but not charging £2? Also, I was not told there would be an additional charge of £2.20 to have my gin with lemonade. When I nicely asked about this, the server just looked blankly at myself and said she didnt know. Its a shame as its a nice little place with nice food but I felt we were made to feel awkward. But I would not recommend the onion rings, it was just greasy batter falling apart with a slither of onion.
The food was beautiful, but very small plates. I think I counted 8 chips on my plate. The meals were quite pricey too, as we're the drinks. The lady serving us was lovely however. We're looking for a regular place to meet up on a Friday evening, and I'm sad to say that The Welcome will not be it! Also, on arrival, we all commented it should be known as The Unwelcome, as we had a frosty greeting. Sorry. But like I said, the food was faultless in taste.
