Cochin Restaurant - Surry Hills

As a lover of Vietnamese food, this is my favourite restaurant in Sydney. The staff are warm and friendly, the food is fantastic; my favourite dishes are the salt and pepper squid, five spice duck and the steamed barramundi is to die for but the whole menu is amazing and I have yet to have a weak dish here. It's BYO, and great for a romantic dinner or with a big group as fantastic value for money. We keep going back here as it is such a great spot and love bringing friends with us to try try menu. I thoroughly recommend you try.

This restaurant is truly remarkable. The pork hock I tried here is the best I have ever had anywhere. The cozy atmosphere is unpretentious and elegant. The staff appears to be dedicated to meeting your needs. The menu looks amazing, and I would love to try everything on it. It is more affordable than most places in Surry Hills. I cannot find any faults with this place and will definitely be returning for more.

I dined at this restaurant for the first time in 2007-2008 and had an amazing experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, the waiter was knowledgeable and had great charisma, and the food was both beautifully presented and delicious. I couldn't stop talking about this place to everyone I knew. However, when I recently visited with my partner, I was disappointed to find that the decor was outdated and unappealing. The ambiance was ruined by tacky instrumental music, and although the waitress was friendly, she was inattentive and uninteresting. The biggest letdown was the food, which was just average Vietnamese cuisine and not particularly unique or memorable. While it was a decent meal, it was nothing special and could be found at any Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney. This place has unfortunately lost its charm and is now just a run-of-the-mill Vietnamese restaurant.

We had a pleasant dinner at this restaurant with a big group of friends. The staff were helpful and the food was satisfactory. This establishment allows you to bring your own alcohol.
