Rokko - Surrey

Good standard Japanese fare. Reasonably priced. Service was a bit slow as there was only one server. Restaurant was busy with a large group, 2 smaller groups, people ordering take out and then me wanting to also place an order. Food tasted fresh. No complaints on the quality of the food. Portion size is a bit smaller than many of the competitors in the area but the prices reflected that.

Service was very pleasant. Restaurant and washrooms are very clean. But unfortunately the food is average at best. Sunomono was way under done and still fairly solid. Teriyaki chicken lacked any flavour.

The entranceway has two fountains, which create a pleasant ambience. The decor is traditional sushi restaurant. The women's bathroom is lovely and very clean. (Hint from a former coworker who ran a cleaning company: the bathroom cleanliness tells you all you need to know about the kitchen. The service is very pleasant and just right. The food was delicious and well-presented. My bias: I like mainstream Japanese offerings. If you want more adventurous and creative dishes, this might not be your place. I noticed that beer is served here; can't speak for other types of alcohol. Definitely a place to bring your kids or meet friends.

I will give 5 stars because I think Rokko is one of the best sushi restaurant I've been to. The price is acceptable, and the food was fabulous! The tempura was fresh and sunomono was a perfect appetizer. Compared to other sushi restaurants, I feel like Rokko's food are more healthier and not too salty. I will come here again when I come back to Surrey!
