Bidra med feedbackI haven’t been back to Suncrop restaurant in probably 3-4 years – the last few times I had been there the food was terrible, every dish in a set banquet had onions or had cabbage. A friend told me that they have changed owners/chefs and they love going there for the seafood. I was sceptical. My family was visiting from overseas so we went there to try out the seafood. We ordered the lobster banquet, added an extra dish of tofu and a 1.4kg mud crab in Singapore Chilli style but mild chilli as we had children at the table. The food was amazing! It has improved so much since the last time we ate there. It was prompt and exactly how we ordered, nothing was missed and the dish size was big. The lobster was cooked in ginger and shallot style with noodles underneath and the mud crab was perfectly mild for children to eat as well. I was impressed with the service and the food, they have now made up for their previous disgraces in my food books *double thumbs up*.
$25 if you paid cash, I think if you pay by card it's $28. Fried rice = Good, Satay skewers = ok, Beef ball = Good, Green Vegies = Average (the thick oyster on top was no good), Pepper beef ribs = Good and Mango Pancake was may favourite!!
We went there for lunch. They have special lunch prices (cheaper), different as from the original Menu. The food is acceptable.
I am embarrassed to be writing this review – I admit it, today I fell for the scam. School holidays, kids wanted yum cha, pulled over on a whim. 4 (subpar) yum cha items from the trolley, 2 soft drinks, 2 teas and a beer later - we walked away $72 short. They’re clever here. The margins are high on the drinks, and accordingly our drinks order was super quick. But the trolleys were a different story. We waited at least 10 minutes between our first plate of 3 dumplings and our second. And although some homemade, contact covered, menu item stickers, were haphazardly stuck to the trolleys to explain what dishes were on offer, when we asked for those items, they were always “run out”. Suncrop officially now heads my dud list of where to eat in Brisbane.
We had been searching for somewhere with good reviews for Peking Duck as my fiancé had never tried. Suncrop showed up in a few so thought we'd give it a try. 4ppl, ordered Spring rolls (veg only but quite tasty), Peking Duck 2 course pancakes & san choi bau (also just duck, or with noodles/rice other options) was very tasty skin crispy and not overly fatty/oily, although could use more extras for pancakes. Also sizzling pepper steak (ok but meat very soft) and kung pao chicken (ok not too spicy but lacking bit of flavor). Special fried rice - average. Decore/atmosphere - average (only 1 toilet and wasn't very clean)Service/staff - very good/attentive...but guard all your plates if not finished as they will be whisked away.Price/value - very reasonableWould I come back? Most likely.....would def. order duck again but would try other dishes next time.
