Bidra med feedbackIt has been over 4 years since we had the chance to revisit The Wolsey. Both on that occasion and this latest occasion we were served delicious food. I had the steak and ale pie and my other half had fish and chips. Home cooking at its best hot, plentiful, tasty and value for money.
Whilst out shopping we decided to have tea out, (but where ! I mentioned that I had recommendations for the Wolsey. Quickly rang to see what time they served food till. I said we would be about 30 mins. When we arrived the table had been reserved for us, quickly seated and our heads were soon in the menu. There were quite a few things that we fancied so the decisions were made. I ordered at the bar, the barman was very cheerful, friendly and helpful. The food (steak ale pie and hot shot chicken parmo didn’t take too long to arrive, piping hot and very tasty. The homemade chips were delicious, loads of steak in the pie
Visited the wolsley monday not many in so got served straight away didnt wait long for meals husband got gammon and I got hot shot Parmo both meals came out piping hot and big portions would definitely return
I had the Fish and Chips , waited just short of 50 minutes for them . Looked presentable enough but the Fish had very little taste and was so dry . Nice fish and chips use to be so common back in the day , now it's such a rarity, it is becoming a lost art , oh and the peas had no taste either . Chips were passable. My partner had the steak and ale pie , and she had similar experience. Couldn't cut the pastry top with the knife, could have used it as a frisbee . Oh , and the chef came out at some point , with a face like a wet weekend . Must do better mate. Unlikely we'll be back.
Visited with a family of five plus the dog . Had a lovely afternoon a few drinks and a meal . Food was outstanding . So fresh and plentiful . Would definitely return bar staff so friendly and helpful looking forward to our return visit .
