Taste Buds - Sunderland

We only stumbled upon this little gem recently, but it has become one of our absolute favourites! Especially for a spot of lunch. The cafe does real home cooked foods, from beautiful sunday roasts to an amazing chilli con carne. And don't even get me started on the home made chips! The nostaglia this place makes you feel every single time is amazing. Anyone remember Dave's Cafe that was in sunderland town? Just a little cafe, nothing fancy, you got your cheesy chips and pop while your nana played on the slots after her 13th cup of coffee. Although there is no arcade, this place gives you full Daves Cafe vibes! Cheap and cheerful, with delicous food everytime. And a welcoming, friendly team of staff to top it all off! A point to add, I am currently pregnant and the staff have been amazing constantly allocating for all of my little craving whims! For the price, roughly £5 6 for a full meal, you CANNOT beat Taste Buds!

I asked for a breakfast ,while waiting at the counter I observed the assistant placing with her bare hands !!! parts of my breakfast of sausage, beacon, black pudding, hash brown on to a plate then placing it in the microwave? This then followed by cooking my egg fresh and then finally putting on the tined tomato and beans from other re heated pans. Although the place is a clean café, I am surprised of the lack of gloves or tongs to handle customers food. Never mind the microwaving bit. To say, my breakfast was a REHEATED as my black pudding now a biscuit. and tbh I decided not to eat it as I 'm not too sure on the assistants previous movements of her hands!!!

I recently ordered two delicious breakfasts from this hidden gem of a restaurant! I got the Full English breakfast to go and it was absolutely delicious. It was cooked and served by two lovely women who were following all the social distancing guidelines. You won't be disappointed, the food is fresh and delightful. I also tried their Sunday lunch and it was yummy!

I use this place regularly for breakfast although they offer a full daily menu. A regular breakfast with a cuppa at just £4 is excellent and more than enough. Lots of local workers drop in for takeaway throughout the morning which is testament to the good standard and great value. The staff are very friendly. Back soon

I'm a regular in here- they serve what's got to be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Would definitely recommend
