Atlantic Lure - Stratford

My husband and I are so glad we chose to have a spur-of-the-moment, late dinner here. The sun had set, so we couldn't see the view, but that did not detract from our experience. My Norwegian salmon with roasted red potatoes and salad with raspberry vinaigrette was delicious. My husband very much enjoyed his hamburger - also delicious. Service was friendly and proficient. We will return!

This was my first visit since the re-opening this year. The name now I believe is The Fox Den, fitting as numerous foxes can be seen from various spots on the golf course. We called for reservations, but you can come without, and had a table with one of the best views on the course and beyond to the harbour. We were there at noon and the resto/pub were quiet, maybe word hasn't gotten out about what a great lunch spot this is.there is a varied pub menu, as well as the special of the day. I chose the fish and chips, one of the best I have ever had and my friend had the quesadilla, which she also enjoyed. Portions are generous, so we didn't order desert....maybe next time....there will most definitely be a next time

Atlantic Lure, unfortunately, is no longer. It's the restaurant at the Fox Meadow Golf Club, and is now called the Fox's Den. The good news is that the people who own Phinley's, just down Kinlock Road, are the new operators, and they're very good at what they do. The food is not quite as "high end" as it was with the Atlantic Lure experiment, leaning more toward the "family fare" category, but it's less expensive and still good enough to remain with an "excellent" rating. At least it certainly got that rating among the dozen other people with whom we dined. The view is still spectacular, the service was excellent and the restaurant's interior remains as pleasing, so it's a great place to take guests for any kind of special occasion. Entreés are in the twelve to eighteen dollar range, and very reasonable, given the quality. While Atlantic Lure had great potential, the Fox's Den is still highly recommended.

We and eaten at this venue a couple of times in the past when it was run by chain hotels and were disappointed, embarrassed in fact when we had friends there. When our service club had its annual social night there last evening (~100 people) we almost passed it up on the basis of our previous experiences. We had an absolutely superb meal, good quantities of roast beef and potatoes - the essential Prince Edward Island meal. We don't understand why tea and coffee were not served after the meal, and no bread and butter plates at the place settings. Strange! The chef did a marvellous job and his organization in the kitchen drew excellent comments, the servers were pleasant and efficient, but the shortcomings are sticking in my mind. The event was after dark in a lower-floor room so we couldn't verify the view outside which I expect was superb.

Excellent lunch - there were 12 of us there for a birthday lunch. Most of us ordered the chicken wrap and a salad which was excellent. Good-sized portions, ok to share between two. Those who had friend clams said they were great and the lady who had the seafood chowder had rave reviews also.Service was great, there were more of us than what was expected and we were well looked after. Bread with three pats of flavoured butter were served before our meal. Food was hot, salads were nice, had a balsamic dressing.This is the first time I was at the restaurant, glad the "birthday girl" chose the Atlantic Lure.
