Connolly's Tapas - Stratford-on-Avon

Having had two positive experiences here, it was a tad disappointing to find the meal was variable in quality and value for money on this last occasion .I ordered the 'special ' bao buns ,expecting a lovely homemade generous portion only to be presented with two commercially available ? Itsu buns with a small garnish costing a small fortune, so a very hefty profit involved .The garlic mushrooms were incredibly salty and oily -unpleasant . When you ask a table how they are finding the meal ,you should be trained sufficiently to be able to respond appropriately to criticism -this was not the case here .We were given the equivalent of a shrug of the shoulder and no attempt was made to apologise or take my criticism seriously.The attitude was highly dismissive . However ,other dishes were good, especially the chicken wings and crispy squid . On balance ,I will not be returning orrecommend others to visit -a real shame .

Unfortunately, the restaurant was not a good value for the money. While the overall experience was pleasant and the staff was friendly, the quality of the food did not justify the high prices. I do not plan on returning.

My husband and I made a reservation at Connolly's tonight since we just moved to Stratford. This has quickly become one of our top dining spots! The food was fantastic and the staff were delightful. We will definitely be recommending this place to our guests!

AVOID AVOID AVOID !! Absolute appalling customer service . I’d heard very mixed reviews about this place, mostly due to the management but as it’s my local I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. What a mistake that was. I visited Connollys on Friday and Saturday, On the first occasion I was sat down outside having a quiet drink before meeting with friends. A lady I now know to be Jo, the owner spoke down to me in a very derogatory manner. I thought nothing of it and popped in again the next day, I was again spoken down too by the husband of Jo , Tony. For someone that had many years of experience within hospitality I would and will advise people to steer clear of this place . Having spoken to a few locals recently this appears to be a regular occurrence. The only good thing I can say is their daughter Hannah has a lovely manner and goes out of her way to treat their customers with the upmost of respect.

Was staying in a hotel nearby . walked past and saw the place was busy . spoke to the owner who managed to squeeze us in on a very busy night . had a couple of drinks while they sorted us a table out . all the staff were very polite and helpful with the menu . the food and service was top notch . had a good vibe and buzz about the place . we had a lovely evening and will go back when were in the area gain . thank you .
