Bidra med feedbackJust under new management of JWLees,so decided to call in on Saturday night. Beautiful place, but it seemed more geared up for food than just a drinking establishment, and the drinks were on the expensive side-but I'd definitely recommend the stout because it was lovely Unfortunately, it was really quiet when we called in, so not much atmosphere, which is a shame, and despite having 3 bar staff on,2 of them seemed more interested in having a chat than serving. While we were there, we bumped into friends who'd just had a meal, and they were very impressed, so we'll definitely go back and try the food.
The Pointing Dog is in a great location with a spacious interior and exterior for drinking and dining . We visited on Sunday 16th July 2 days after it reopened under the new ownership of JWLees . There were many meals in the menu we could’ve chosen but decided to go for the Sunday lunch for 2 sharing platter . Our son chose Chicken Chasseur . The meals were all delicious the sharing platter was huge with 3 meats and all the trimmings. Our waitress Lauren was lovely and attended to us promptly when we realised we had not been given the pigs in blankets which she duly fetched for us . Neither my husband or son are fans of the house beer and If we were to make one suggestion it would be to offer a couple more guest lagers/beers . Happy customers who look forward visiting again in the future
Staff were clearly trying their best, but the food wasn’t good at all. It can’t be a trained chef in the kitchen. We had fish and chips. Chips were largely uncooked frozen chips, and the fish was undercooked with soggy batter. For the price it wasn’t the best. Suggest just going for drinks as it’s a nice place to sit and enjoy a pint.
Beautiful pub, shame the food and service doesn't match. Went for a family lunch, chose this location as there was a vegan Sunday lunch on the menu. On ordering we were told the vegan Sunday lunch was actually now vegetarian, vegan member had a bowl of chips for lunch. Also no alternative milks available. The rest of the meals were only average. Service was very poor and slow. A very disappointing dog.
Lived close and passed this place since it opened, but never went in til yesterday. Starters were nice enough, main course I had the Squid, the batter was mushy and the squid no better, I spent the night being reacquainted with it. My g/f had the butter chicken which was also pink. Don’t generally leave reviews but this place wasn’t the best.
