I had an evening meal here with a friend on Saturday night partly for nostalgic reasons as the restaurant is in what was The White Hart pub, a lovely old historic drinker and a firm favourite of ours years ago during our youth. Although the layout is pretty much the same as it was but the decor is bright with pink and blue fluorescent lighting which has modernised the place up. It was quite busy with a nice burble of chatter but they managed to seat us straight away. The service was good without being overbearing. I ordered the Lamb Shashlick and a keema naan but what I got wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be lumps of lamb in a creamy sauce with onions but what I got was tandoori cooked lumps of meat with some onion. However it was lovely and the meat was tender and I appreciate that different regions/areas in India cook, what is called by the same name, in different ways. Not a criticism but might be worth mentioning it on the menu hence the only reason for the 4 stars. The prices were very reasonable as well. All in all worth a visit.
The food tasted like something you would get at a takeaway bland and characterless. The naan bread was good, but everything else the curries, the biryani, the starters were so so. Not bad tasting, but not good either. The lamb was too dry and stringy for my taste. The service was just like the food passable, but not satisfactory. The food was well presented this being the only plus about it. There are better curry houses. Not going there again.
