Bidra med feedbackWine and dinner done here. And I can't help but say: “congratulations!” Truly very varied Charing food with a very rich individual main course and a delicious dessert. Ideal location for a fun team building or end-of-year dinner. Accessible but definitely up to standard! Really “wine” nothing to complain about. Very well received, educational and delicious! Wines are central here and as a sommelier that can count. All dishes are based on the wine (and not on the dish). So I would recommend everyone to go for the matched wines on the menu. The wine list is also impressive. For each his own. Yesterday I also attended a masterclass about Marsannay (an AOC in Burgundy). I was impressed by the professionalism, the depth of the subject matter, the food pairing and the general organization. Recommended! Have lunch with a friend. Very cozy setting, beautiful location, very friendly service. The selected wines were top notch. Even bought a bottle of the wines served to serve at home. A special way to serve Flemish food with a twist. We thought it was great. The bread was also very tasty. Maybe the food was a bit too salty for my liking, but hey, I hardly use salt when cooking. My girlfriend, on the other hand, thought it tasted great. The portions were certainly ok, we couldn't finish it. Afterwards we drank delicious fresh mint tea with snacks. Very reasonable in price. You have to look far and wide to find what you are presented with with adapted wines in Ghent. We will definitely come back. Service: Dine in Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Too bad, too bad, too bad. SOMM has always been a place for me to celebrate something. My birthday will be the last visit I make to them. The former somm had corridors, really corridors, from which you could eat and come out with a full belly. The former Somm had a special wine per dish, expensive, but the quality of the food and wine was so good that it was worth 80 pp. The new Somm, on the other hand... I have tasted (not eaten) basic dishes that I can also make at home. Toast with mushrooms, piece of fish, 6 shrimps on a plate is what they call a course??? Then there are the wines... I used to go to get to know wine. Now I have tasted 3 very basic wines for 25 euros you no longer get a customized wine per course. for courses 1, 2 and 3 you will enjoy a basic white wine of which you will receive a base. If you drank your wine during course 1, you are out of luck, because they don't refill it, and you, like me (on your birthday) don't have any drinks during course 2 and 3 since you don't get any food either, you are VERY FAST tipsy. The last two wines are red and you think wajo meat. You get samosa, mushroom toast and dessert. With RED WINE. AND THEY POUR THE RED WINE INTO THE SAME GLASS OF THE WIIIIITTTEEEEEE WIJYYYYNNNNNNNNNNN ??? And for dessert you get a teaspoon of mascarpone and 2 types of cake to test. Mascarpone from the jar Is your bread gone and are you still hungry? Bad luck because they don't even look to refill it. I mean if you don't have a drink they won't refill let alone refill bread. And now think that you are sitting there for 3 hours because the menu takes a while. You get drinks but no food. Then no more drinking. You're hungry, you're tipsy. Each corridor becomes smaller. And lasts longer. No water, no bread. Fuuuuckkkiiiiinnggg hungry yes yes. Too bad, too bad, too bad... After my visit and the man's 80 euros, I went to the MCDO because I was hangry. I took few pictures of their food. Because there was no food. With pain in my heart I have to write that I no longer recommend Somm (new concept new owner). A pity. SOMM has changed a lot since the move to the new location and the new staff. The selected wines remain excellent and match the elaborated dishes very well. Only the portions were extremely small in terms of food. You also notice the inexperience and unprofessionalism of some of the staff. Nothing bad but noticeable. You notice that the twist in the new concept still needs to be found, but the potential is certainly there! Their wines remain the thing they excel at. Dietary restrictions: The allergy to shellfish and crustaceans of one of the guests was carefully listened to. Very satisfied in that respect.
