Austin Community Tavern - Steger

My first time going to Austin’s Tavern was last night to see Expo 76 (a primarily north side band). Expo 76 plays a compilation of AM radio hits from the 60’s 70’s. Listening to E76 brings you back to the soothing waters of your youth – they are simply great. Austin Community Tavern was excellent too. You can tell the proprietor (Phil) truly cares about bringing quality live music to the southern suburbs. We shared a pizza, fries, and a cheeseburger – the food drinks were great, and the ambiance was just right. You can tell the employees take their cue from Phil the owner who was constantly on the move, introducing the band, greeting customers, serving customers, and busing tables too. Although we didn't order food, and I haven't been here since it was J.Martins Tap, the bartender (she never gave us her name) was very sweet and accommodating. The bar was very nice and clean although the Girls room is small, it's clean and has all the amenities, well stocked. The parking is dangerous, had to back out onto Steger Rd at 5:45 pm! Yikes! Great place to catch a live band and enjoy one of the best thin crust pizzas in the South Suburbs. Better order yourself a couple of drinks at a time as this place gets busy when a good band is playing.
