Bidra med feedbackWould have loved to try this place out as we are really missing the hotpot we used to get in Canada. Unfortunately we got turned away at the door, so no hotpot for us. Guess you can't wait for a table to open up
Went for Hot Pot. Location very small on the inside and was only offering take out.
A little mom and pop restaurant on Olive Blvd, among many Chinese restaurants on this road. We called in for a pick up order, a gentleman was very nice but didn't speak much English. Fortunately we were able to hash it out with my broken Chinese and got our orders taken. Don't fret if you don't speak Chinese, cause when we picked up our orders, the lady spoke perfect English. Onto the food, very delicious Shanghai/Cantonese style food not oily and full of umami flavors. The spicy cold chicken is one of my favorite dish as it packs in a lot of flavor, spicy and unique it's not every day you eat cold chicken on purpose : Soft tofu with preserved eggs (aka 1000 years old eggs are also excellent cold as an appetizer or side dish. The braised pork belly and eggs are just like how my mom makes it at home soft, tender, sweet salty. I haven't had Shanghai braised duck at other places before, but I like its taste and flavor, duck was tender and absorb the sauce well. Eggplants in garlic is a classic. All items were perfect pairing with a hot bowl of plain rice or by itself since they're not too salty. Everything was piping hot when we picked up, which made for a loooong 20 minutes drive home! Cause all I wanted to do was open it up and try all the dishes! In short, we'll return for more! If not for the regular food, we'd like to try their hotpot one day!
The boss lady scolded at us over the phone because we called again to add an extra dish on our previous order. When we arrived to pick it up she kept telling us how much troubled she had changing our order. And waved the receipt to us, yes she was mad because over two recepts. I don't want to get yelled at over two paper she has wasted so we will not go back.
